KILLEEN, Texas — An active shooter situation was reported at the Killeen Mall in Texas on Friday.
Killeen police and Harris County Precinct 3 Office of Emergency Management were investigating the situation Friday evening.
No injuries had been reported at this time.
In a statement Friday evening, a Killeen police spokesman said:
“At 10:10PM Friday, 2:40PM Friday, emergency management officials reported an active shooter situation at the Killeen Mall. There was no known threat to the public. Police, military and rescue are on the scene.
The main mall entrance is currently closed. Information on the number of officers, civilians and shoppers who are assisting will be released within 48 hours.”

Updated 11:05pm: The police spokesperson said the scene is stabilized and Killeen police have ruled out an active shooter situation. Police are not looking for any suspect or person of interest.
Update 11:15pm: Confirmed that there was a person of interest, who was taken into custody, in a red van on the mall side of the mall. Police blocked off the area and are now turning their attention toward that person. The spokesperson said they believe the person of interest was the one involved in a possible shooting.
Update 11:45pm: Harris County authorities told the crowd of reporters that the investigation would continue in the morning at the scene of the shooting.

Killeen Police Twitter says the incident is in the mall area of the Killeen Mall at this time.
Numerous police vehicles, SWAT and fire rescue vehicles are on the scene.
Authorities say a person of interest is in custody but did not say where.
