Hairdresser arrested after additional charges emerge following allegations of sexual assault

On Thursday, Rita Cara, who was already charged with some disturbing sex abuse allegations, was taken into custody after further evidence was discovered in relation to those cases. Toronto police announced that one additional charge had been brought against her. Cara has not yet entered a plea to these additional charges.

In addition to the sexual assault charges in that initial case, police said that Cara is now also accused of sexual assault with a weapon, child luring, and dissemination of material harmful to a child.

A preliminary hearing for the man arrested in the initial charges will be held on April 2.

Cara is not the only Toronto hairdresser to come under scrutiny recently. On March 9, Saad Al-Hussaini was arrested and taken into custody after he was charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, extortion, and uttering threats to cause death.
